Free Password Generator
Generate strong random passwords and memorable passphrases with client-side Web Crypto entropy. Never transmitted across the network, never stored.
Generated Passwords Batch
crypto.getRandomValues() API. EcrioX does not transmit, receive, or store your passwords.
Cryptographic Randomness
Built using browser CSPRNG with unbiased rejection sampling. Never pseudo-random.
Live Shannon Entropy
Calculates mathematical entropy bits based on character pool size and length.
Memorable Passphrases
Generates Diceware-style multi-word passphrases that are easy to remember but hard to crack.
Zero Data Retention
No passwords sent to analytics, cookies, or databases. Values reset immediately on request.
What Makes a Password Truly Strong?
In modern cybersecurity, brute-force attacks and credential-stuffing bots test billions of password combinations per second. A truly strong password requires a combination of sufficient length, character unpredictability, and mathematical entropy.
Password Length vs Complexity
For decades, users were advised to substitute letters with symbols (such as replacing 'E' with '3' or 'A' with '@'). Modern password cracking dictionaries anticipate these common human patterns instantly.
Length is exponentially more protective than cosmetic substitution. An 8-character password with symbols has approximately $5 \times 10^{15}$ combinations, which modern GPU clusters can crack in minutes. A randomly generated 16-character password has over $10^{30}$ combinations—requiring millions of years of computing power.
Passwords vs Memorable Passphrases
When you need a password you can remember without looking at a password manager (such as a master password or disk encryption key), a Passphrase is the recommended standard:
- Random Passwords: Best for autofill password managers (e.g.,
k7#vP9$mQ2!wX8&z). Extremely compact and strong. - Passphrases (Diceware style): A sequence of randomly chosen common words separated by hyphens (e.g.,
Battery-Staple-Orchard-Vibrant-94). Humanly memorable and resilient against dictionary analysis.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
window.crypto.getRandomValues(), the browser's native cryptographic pseudo-random number generator (CSPRNG), combined with unbiased rejection sampling. We never use standard Math.random(), which is predictable.
